CLOVER CORPORATION IS A COMPANY AIM AT  PUBLIC NUTRITION. 

Company History

In 1988 Clover Corporation began as a family owned Australian research-based company dedicated to providing quality lipid based products which enhance the health and well-being of the community.

Our time since then

Clover Corporation was publicly listed on 25 November 1999 on the Australian Stock Exchange. The company evolved from being a Research and Development, Manufacturing and Marketing company to one concentrating on forming strategic relationships focused on technology, new product development and commercialization.
Clover Corporation developed technically advanced and cost-efficient delivery systems for long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids for their application in infant and children’s nutrition, nutritional supplements and functional foods. Innovations in manufacturing techniques and ingredient design, some jointly developed with Food Science Australia/CSIRO, have resulted in several international patents for encapsulated processes and products.
During November 2002 Clover Corporation entered into a joint venture with the Queensland–based Food Spectrum Group of companies. The incorporated joint venture was 70 percent owned by Clover Corporation and was named Nu-Mega Ingredients Pty Limited. The joint venture ceased in November 2007 when Clover Corporation acquired the remaining 30 percent of Nu-Mega to make it a wholly owned subsidiary.
Clover Corporation continues to be focused on improving human health through nutrition.

 

VENTURE

Nu-Mega Ingredients

Nu-Mega is a world class manufacturer and supplier of HiDHA tuna oil, a rich source of omega 3 DHA, and encapsulated powdered marine and/or algal oils for infant and children’s formulas, foods, supplements and pharmaceuticals.

The refined tuna oil is used in many applications including infant and children’s formulations, supplements, foods and pharmaceuticals. Driphorm and ThermoMAX encapsulated Omega-3 powders are used in a wide variety of applications such as infant and children’s formula, dairy and baked foods, beverages and bars to name a few. Encapsulated powders can be supplied to kosher and halal requirements and are manufactured in accord with ISO9000 and HACCP quality systems.

                                                   Future Food Ingredients

FFI is a joint venture company with equal equity held by Clover Corporation Limited and Austgrains Pty Ltd. The remaining assets in FFI have been sold. Clover will now take steps to have the joint venture dissolved.

1 Mr Peter R Robinson

B.Com
Mr Robinson has held both executive and non-executive directorships for a period of 24 years. Mr Robinson has over 30 years experience at general management and chief executive level.
Mr Robinson joined Washington H Soul Pattinson and Company Limited (WHSP) in 1978 and was appointed an executive director of WHSP in 1984. Mr Robinson is also non-executive Chairman of Australian Pharmaceutical Industry Limited and is a non-executive director of New Hope Corporation Limited.
A Non-executive Director of Clover Corporation since 14 August 1997 he was appointed Chairman of Clover Corporation Limited on 1 December 2002.

2 Mr Graeme A Billings

B.Com, FCA, MAICD
Mr Billings has been a chartered accountant since 1977. He retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2011 after 34 years where he was a senior partner in the Assurance practice. Graeme is a former head of the Melbourne Assurance practice as well as leading the Firm’s Australian and Global Industrial Products businesses. He has extensive experience in providing assurance, governance, transaction and consulting services to multi-national and national companies in the automotive, manufacturing, consumer goods and construction industries. Graeme was also a regular media commentator on the Industrial Products sector.

A Non-executive Director of Clover Corporation Limited since 14 May 2013. He is Chairman of the audit committee and a member of the remuneration committee.

Mr Billings is now an advisor to various companies as well as acting as a non-executive director for a number of public and private companies in the financial services, manufacturing, retail and construction sectors.

3 Ms Cheryl L Hayman

B.Com (Mktg)
Ms Hayman was formerly Marketing Director for the Baking Division of George Weston Foods (Australia/NZ) and was largely responsible for the successful launch of the HiDHA Tip Top Up bread. Ms Hayman has extensive food industry experience in the management ad development of the branding, marketing and innovation of functional foods. She currently runs her own strategic marketing consultancy, Hayman Strategy.
A Non-executive Director of Clover Corporation Limited since 9 July 2008. She is a member of the audit and the remuneration committees.

 4 Dr Merilyn J Sleigh

Dr Sleigh was formerly CEO & Managing Director of EvoGenix limited, Dean, faculty of Life Sciences, University of NSW, Director, Research & Development at Peptech Ltd and Scientist & Senior Manager, CSIRO. She is currently a director of a private biotechnology company and advises government and life sciences companies and their investors.
A Non-executive Director of Clover Corporation Limited since 9 July 2008. She is a member of the audit and the remuneration committees.

5 Mr Jaime Pinto

B.Com, CA
Mr Jaime Pinto was appointed as Company Secretary on the 26 November 2012.  Mr Pinto is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in both professional practice and in senior commercial roles across a broad range of industries, and is currently Company Secretary of a number of listed and unlisted companies.

6 Research & Development

Oil Quality

The improved oil deodorising process commissioned at Altona in 2006 provides refined tuna oil to meet the exacting requirements of our customers around the world. The high quality refined tuna oil is also used in the preparation of microencapsulated powders.

Encapsulation technology

Nu-Mega utilises a number of patented encapsulation technologies to prepare its range of powdered omega-3 oil products. Nu-Mega has a long-standing and ongoing association with Food Science Australia and CSIRO to develop encapsulation technologies. These powdered ingredients are marketed under the Driphorm® and ThermoMAX® trade marks.

EXTERNAL Research

Clover Corporation Limited participates and/or provides its products for use in a variety of nutritional and clinical studies which are being conducted around the world. The results of these scientific studies are routinely published in peer reviewed journals.

Communications

Nu-Mega is a foundation member of both the Omega-3 Centre in Australia and GOED (The Global Organisation for EPA and DHA Omega-3) in North America. The primary focus of both groups is to improve and enhance the positive communication of omega-3 oils to all sections of the community.

Regulatory

Nu-Mega is actively involved in the obtaining approval for the use of its products in target markets, seeking approval for claims related to health benefits of long chain Omega-3 oils and DHA, and continually advancing the discussion related to the benefits of long chain Omega-3 oils and DHA.

Products

Clover actively pursues the development and commercialization of products that focus on the delivery of bioactive nutrients.  These products are designed for use in many applications including infant formula, children’s foods, functional foods, medical foods and pharmaceuticals.
